WEEK 14 SUMMARY

Rev. Ike’s Secrets For Health, Joy and Prosperity,

For You: Science Of Living Study Guide

Foreword

There’s a Zen expression that says, “Chop wood, carry water.” The full quotation is “Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.” In our comfortable lives these words may not hold much literal significance, but meta-physically the meaning is quite profound. It reminds us that no matter what is happening in the world, we must continue our daily practices. Cultivating the inner Self makes us stronger and gives us the intelligence to see what is really going on. Every week in the ‘news’ there’s another tragedy, another social injustice situation coming to the forefront. The global pandemic continues wreaking havoc, and political intrigues seem unending. What’s a person to do? . . . Chop wood, carry water.”

 Summary

Chapters 29 and 30 reinforce Rev. Ike’s central message that you must remember the truth of who you are because when you know your authentic spiritual identity, you live in an elevated consciousness that transcends troubles and manifests miracles.

Among the 17 participants last week, two of our attendees shared positive creative supplements to the week’s lessons. The first person referenced a poem with historical content, and the second person introduced a short audio and said, I just experienced a beautiful ancestral grief ritual that ended with this affirmation. I am sharing it because it is so in alignment with the I AM exercise we did Thursday.”

We gladly share these supplements with you below:

A poem titled “I Am Somebody!”

In small breakout groups we compiled lists of I Am statements, and it was incredible how many positive descriptions we came up with. The facilitator challenged us to unblock our resistance and practice saying YES so things can unfold with ease and grace. We were also encouraged to write a personal visualization prayer.

Chapter 29 – I AM SOMEBODY!

Key Spiritual Principle

There is only one thing in life that nobody can take away from you. And that is the truth of you – the truth that you are a Child of God.

Talk yourself up, not down. The words that you speak to yourself in your head when no one else is around will either lift you up or bring you down. Nobody wants to hear your hard luck story, so spare the details and find something positive and uplifting to talk about. “What you believe about yourself is what determines your experience” (Rev Ike).

Chapter 30 – SEEING WITH THE MIND’S EYE

Key Spiritual Principle

Whatever you want, see yourself as the one with it.

In this chapter Rev. Ike emphasizes visualization, a dynamic technique for directing your mind toward the good you desire. He says you must “see” yourself being, doing, and having it. Visualize it! Feel it! Taste and smell it! Bring your auditory sense into your visualization. He uses the example of a vacation and even creates a ‘Vacation Visualization Prayer.’

Whether it is a vacation, a relationship, a new . . . (whatever) . . . you have to prepare yourself to receive it. Do something! After you set your clear intention and start visualizing what you desire, do something. The practice may begin in your mind, but you have to take some action. Make it fun and enjoy playing with your vision.

Otherwise, you might just wind up withdrawing from life, feeling depressed and jealous of others who are out there living their dreams.
